Question 18. How did you get to the program? Did you go voluntarily / did your parents lie to you to get you there / were you court-ordered / or were you ‘escorted’ at night by strangers? Please describe.
" My parents lied to me to get me there." - B.B., Ivy Ridge & Tranquility Bay
"I was "escorted" at night. Apparently that's the best way to deliver a "troubled teen" to abusive institutes. It was probably close to midnight and I was in bed. My mom unlocked the bedroom door with the key she had. I was awoken from the sound, and I saw my mom's figure walk through the door. I was confused as she said, "You're going away for a while." That's all she said as she turned around and left. Then, I see two figures enter my room. A large, thick male, and a small woman with curly hair. At this point, all I see is their body outline in the shadows. They flip the light switch. Before I can ask or do anything, the large man rips me out of bed and tackles me to the ground. I can hear the woman's voice say, "If you cooperate, it will be much easier for you." At this point I'm yelling and screaming for help. I know my family is home, yet nobody is attending to my aid as I'm being pummeled to the ground by what seems to be a 250lb man. I didn't know what was going on. I screamed and yelled. I was half naked and half asleep. They escorted me out of the house in handcuffs. I pleaded with them to let me know what was happening. I begged to talk to my mom. She couldn't talk to me. She gave the female escort a pillow to give me and sent me on my way." - C.A., Casa by the Sea

"I was put on court probation when i was 14 for bringing marijuana to school, so my probation officer told my parents it was with juvenile hall or this (my parents told my PO about Casa she had no idea what it was). My parents lied and told me they were taking me to see my aunt in San Diego. We were parked in a WalMart parking lot and Luke and his wife with their one year old daughter took me as I cried and screamed let me go, and my parents just stared at me. I was in the back seat with my little cousin, we were both bawling (her being a littly baby I understand, but to this day I feel she even knew there was something not right)." - J.C., Casa by the Sea
"I went voluntarily. I had driven down with my folks, and the parents of my best friend who was already down there. There no was trickery or bribery. We drove down to Ensenada, and stopped in town to get something to eat. We ate a restaurant, and I remember my dish was the Mole chicken. After the meal, we went up to the red gates and entered. Upon entering, they took my belongings, clothes, jewelry, piercings out, etc." - A.T., Casa by the Sea
"Escorts picked me up from the hospital after having an overdose. Once the escorts picked me up, they drove to a far away airport in fear that I may run away. After flying from NY to Texas, Texas to California we drove to Ensenada, Mexico." - N.R., Casa by the Sea
"My parents lied to me because they knew I would of put up a fight with he escorts which I definitely would of. They told me we were going to Ensenada for the weekend and that they rented a condo on the beach. They kept their cool the whole time.
