Question 21. Do you have a good relationship with your family now?
"It's a work in progress. For a while the trust between us had completely diminished. Things have since gotten better, but only recently, like within the last 2 years or so." - C.A., Casa by the Sea
"I have an AMAZING relationship with my family and we are all very close. My mom said she wishes she would of never sent me there. She cried to me how sorry she was and how she did not know what was really going on. My dad as well was so sorry, when they forgave me and i forgave them, we have been closer than ever. I would do anything for my family. Even though Luke Hallows did this to me, if he reads this (which I hope he does) I pray he hears all of our cries, all of our pain, and I just hope he will be understanding and come forth and be the one to STOP THE WWASP. Luke, please, I beg of you, STOP THIS! I cant imagine how our Grandpa feels, he loved all of us more than anything...." - J.C., Casa by the Sea
"I actually rebelled when I got out of the program and went back to the same things I was doing before, if not more since I learned about more things while I was in the program, so at first I didn’t have a good relationship with them. I do have a good relationship with them now but it took a lot of time and hard work to get there, my parents decided to do the parent seminars while I was in the program so they got brainwashed really bad and wanted to use all this program talk on me when I got out. With time I was able to sit down with them and inform them about my time there, but we have only gotten close within the last couple years. I didn’t talk to my parents for 5 years after leaving the program." - A.E., Casa by the Sea
"My relationship with parents is getting better. Still a lot of anger/ guilt about sending me to the program now that they know what it was really like for me." - B.B., Ivy Ridge & Tranquility Bay
"No. We still struggle with the same issues we did before the program." - C.M., Tranquility Bay
"No. I haven’t spoken to my father in 6 years, and my mom is still using drugs and still suffers from mental illness. I talk to her occasionally." - L.W., Cross Creek Manor
"My family yes I always had a great relationship with my family now my mother is on again off again. But I don’t hate her anymore. I am an adult not an angry teenager and our arguments now are family related issues not me acting out." - C.L., Casa by the Sea
"The only surviving people of my family is my sister and I. After I got out of the program, my left went down hill. I moved out after being home for 1 year. I had quit my job, moved out and started doing drugs. It was down hill spiral from the time I was 18-21. At the age of 21 I joined the army and didn’t see much of my folks. She was battling cancer during one of my deployments overseas, and when I came home she was on her last stretch. She passed away 8 months after I got home. I would have to say, from the time I was 16-25, my relationship with my mother was a little rocky. Either due to my drug use, or the fact I was at another part of world in the army. When I look back at my time spent at Casa, that was also another 6 months of my life that I did not get to speak to my mother. Felt like I wasted a lot of time, time that I could have spent developing my relationship with my mother." - A.T., Casa by the Sea
"Ehh.. For the most part. I would say the best thing was for us to have an understanding of each other and being open and honest." - N.R., Casa by the Sea & Midwest Academy
"I do have a good relationship with my Mother. She is like my best friend. My father and I have a hello how are you when there are family functions. Otherwise, we don't talk." - G.A., Casa by the Sea
"I am definitely closer with my sister and mother. Growing up I never really talked with my sister, but now we talk often. As for my mother, I talk with her on a regular basis, but do I think this would be the same if I never went to the program, yes. I think as you grow up you realize how important family relationships are and you get closer with them. But I still have lots of trust issues, and I keep my distance from my parents; they live in New York and I live in California. As for my dad, I don’t have much of a relationship with him. Probably just talk once or twice a year." - J.K., Casa by the Sea
"Yes." - Anon, Casa by the Sea
